Artema Restaurant
Crossing the internal courtyard, the silent heart of the hotel and a refuge far from the frenzy of the outside world, you reach the entrance of Artema: the restaurant of Vetera Matera, set in an underground room carved into the rock, where ancient stone meets contemporary elegance. In an intimate and sophisticated atmosphere, open exclusively for dinner, Mediterranean cuisine is expressed through the creative flair of chef Eduardo Estatico. Every detail, from the mise en place to the management of table service, is curated with attention and care: a discreet but warm welcome, capable of guiding guests through a complete and immersive gastronomic experience. A carefully selected wine list, with predominantly regional labels but open to international selections, completes the experience.
Two tasting menus tell the gastronomic identity of Artema and the Mediterranean soul of chef Estatico.
"Basilicata in verde" is our vegetarian journey, a voyage originating from the land, the vegetable garden, and the mountains of Lucania. An encounter between the beauty and strength of the earth to nourish the body without compromising the future.
"In viaggio con Eduardo" is instead an intimate and personal journey, where each dish safeguards a memory. From Naples, where the sea merges with the strength of the volcanoes and the authenticity of traditions, to Matera, with its Sassi, in an extraordinary balance between purity and intensity, an osmosis between land and sea.
"My cuisine is made of passion and exploration, apparently simple and creative, but rich in history and tradition. A journey that starts from the Naples of my grandmothers, of my childhood and of the passion for the theatre of Eduardo De Filippo. It is nourished by Campania, travels around Italy, lands in Capri and touches the Sorrentine Peninsula, to arrive at the Sassi of Matera, where the millenary tradition of the alleys carved into the rock merges with modern hospitality, in a meeting of deep roots and stories that continue over time. A common thread that weaves the inspiration of my dishes."
